Sonographer

Full Time 37.5 hours per week

The trust is a caring, award-winning organisation and one of the largest Health Boards in Wales with a budget of more than £1 billion. We employ more than 13,000 staff and provide specialist care to thousands of patients every year. We are based in South East Wales, bordering England, with three acute hospitals in Newport, Abergavenny and Ystrad Mynach plus a new Hospital build at Llanfrechfa, Cwmbran. The new hospital will be a complex specialist critical care centre with a 24 hour acute assessment and emergency department serving a population of more than 639,000, approximately 21% of the population of Wales.

The three local general hospitals are supported by local community hospitals, St Woolos, Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, Chepstow and County Hospitals providing care for the local communities.

We have an opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Sonographer to join our busy friendly ultrasound team at ABUHB. A Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) or Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in medical ultrasound (development to progress to Diploma level will also be supported) or DMU qualification, together with HCPC or equivalent is essential for the role.

Aneurin Bevan University Health board is committed to the professional development of staff and actively encourages further education.

We are looking to recruit candidates who have the ability to work autonomously and have a flexible skill set including specialities in obstetrics, early pregnancy, general, gynae, MSK, small parts and paediatric hips. The ability to travel to multiple sites is required to support the needs of the service.

Our department prides itself on the quality of its ultrasound scanning and reporting service. We use state of the art ultrasound equipment (Cannon Aplio range and Samsung RS range). We work across multiple sites within the Health Board covering up to 17 ultrasound rooms each day.

Currently the ultrasound service operates 5 days a week with the possible future development to extend to a 6 or 7 day working week. Opportunities to work evenings and weekends are also available. We will consider full and part time hours. Flexible/extended hours may be considered in relation to existing departmental commitments.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Closing date: 19th February 2020
